TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said women’s welfare remains an important priority as they continue to play a key role in Sabah’s development.

He said this when presenting kitchen aids to about 1,000 housewives in Sulaman at the Bajausamah Cultural Centre in Lok Batik, noting that the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya plan places equal emphasis on prosperity and welfare.

Hajiji, who is also Sulaman Assemblyman, expressed confidence in the strong support of women voters in the constituency, which he believes will be vital for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s chances in the coming state election.

Recalling the challenges of leading the state during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hajiji said the Sabah Maju Jaya plan was launched in difficult times but has since delivered economic recovery and social assistance, including monthly aid for 100,000 poor households.

He said the state government has allocated more than RM1.4 billion in welfare assistance, RM1.33 billion in education, and introduced Rumah Mesra SMJ to provide homes, adding that helping the people remains the most rewarding part of governance.
