KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor expressed gratitude to Petronas and Yayasan Petronas for contributing RM980,000 thus far this year to assist flood victims in Sabah.
He said the aid had eased the burden of those affected while showing the commitment of the private sector in supporting the State Government’s efforts to safeguard the people’s welfare.
The latest contribution, presented on Wednesday at Menara Kinabalu, included essential supplies delivered by Petronas Sabah and Labuan Regional Office General Manager Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab to State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, who also chairs the State Disaster Management Committee.
Siti Ayu said the initiative formed part of Petronas’ yearly disaster preparedness support, with contributions ranging from food packs to equipment such as foldable mattresses, canopies, fans and drinking water, as well as RM10,000 fuel aid for the Civil Defence Force.
Hajiji said the State Government welcomed more corporate support, stressing that such partnerships ensured faster and more effective delivery of aid to those in need, especially ahead of the monsoon season.
