MANILA, Philippines – The northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan,’ would continue to bring cold and dry winds over Luzon, including Metro Manila and most parts of the Visayas, the national weather bureau said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, no weather disturbance or low-pressure area has been spotted inside or outside the country’s area of responsibility, weather specialist Chenel Dominguez of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a 5 a.m. briefing.

She said the convergence mass of hot and cold air (or shear line) has been affecting Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon would likely have overcast skies with light rains due to amihan.

Also caused by the same weather system, the rest of Luzon and the rest of Visayas would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, the state-run weather agency said.

The rest of Mindanao would likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, the Pagasa forecaster said.
