The Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has sought detailed information from government medical colleges across Haryana regarding infrastructure, availability of equipment, staff strength and medicines as part of a comprehensive review of healthcare institutions in the state.

As part of the exercise, a team from the department visited the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) on Friday and inspected various departments of the institute.

The team also held a meeting with PGIMS Director Dr SK Singhal and Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal and reviewed key facilities, including the OPD, Trauma Centre, Super Specialty Block and laboratories.

The visiting team assessed faculty strength, bed occupancy, availability and condition of medical equipment in various wards, and compliance with National Medical Commission norms in coordination with institute officials.

“As per the state government orders, separate teams are inspecting all government medical colleges across the state to evaluate the functioning and resources of these institutions. The data collected from all institutions will be compiled into a detailed report at the department headquarters.

“The visiting team will submit its findings along with suggestions for further improvements in infrastructure, staffing and patient care services,” a senior institute official said.

The official said the team was collecting data on infrastructure gaps, manpower shortages, availability of essential medical equipment and medicines, as well as the overall quality of services being provided to patients.

“The exercise is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery systems in government hospitals by identifying gaps and ensuring timely improvements in facilities and services for patients,” the official added.
