Donald Trump defended Jaxson Dart after the New York Giants quarterback was criticized for introducing him at a rally in New York.

The controversy wasn’t just about Dart appearing on stage. It was about a young Giants quarterback using team slogans at a partisan event, then watching the moment spill into his locker room and fan base.

Trump’s response was mostly praise. He described Dart as a talented young player who had simply shown him respect.

Donald Trump praises Jaxson Dart after New York Giants rally backlash

During My View with Lara Trump, Trump defended Dart while praising his looks, personality and football future.

“So I wish I looked just like Jaxson. This is a guy, I said, is he a male model or what? He’s a handsome guy, like a beautiful guy?” Trump began.

He added, “And he, you know, conserved a guy; he said, ‘I love you, Sir’, and I didn’t know he was doing it, but he’s potentially a great quarterback.

Trump’s defense came after Dart introduced him at a rally in Suffern, New York, for Republican Congressman Mike Lawler. Dart reportedly led a “Go Big Blue” chant before calling it an honor and privilege to introduce Trump.

That is where the controversy sharpened, because critics felt he blurred his personal politics with the Giants’ public identity. The moment also drew attention inside the team after Abdul Carter questioned it publicly before later saying he and Dart were good.

Donald Trump says Jaxson Dart can become great for New York Giants

Trump also shifted from defending Dart’s appearance to talking about his football ceiling.

“He’s a young boy. He had just really started. But when he’s in a game, he moves the team, and I didn’t know him,” Trump continued.

“But I watched him a little bit, and he really moves the team. He’s got tremendous potential. He stays healthy. He’s going to be great,” the US President concluded.

That praise is why the story has lasted. Dart is not a fringe player; he is a young quarterback trying to become the face of a major New York franchise.

The Giants reportedly held a team meeting after the rally fallout, with veterans speaking about keeping issues inside the locker room and moving forward together.

The criticism was not simply that Dart supported Trump. It was that he did so at a public political event while using Giants language in one of the most divided sports markets in the country.

Trump has now defended him directly, but Dart still has the harder job. He has to make sure the rally becomes an offseason lesson, not a lasting split around the Giants.
