KENINGAU: The State Government has allocated nearly RM1 billion to develop agriculture, industry, and tourism as key drivers of Sabah’s economic growth this year, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said on Monday.
Speaking at the 29th Sabah District Officers’ Conference, Hajiji urged district officers (DOs) to identify local economic strengths—including the high-potential Blue Economy in coastal and rural areas—to attract investment, create jobs, and generate income for the people.
He noted that the State has a record development allocation ceiling of RM12.02 billion for 1,173 programmes and projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan, comprising 241 continuation projects and 932 new projects.
Hajiji directed DOs and assistant district officers (ADOs) to monitor project implementation closely and measure success by the tangible impact on people's quality of life rather than solely by completion numbers.
He reaffirmed that rural basic amenities, digitalised public services, good governance, and administrative continuity remain core state priorities to narrow the urban-rural divide under the Sabah Maju Jaya framework.
