
MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala of the Philippines and Nikola Bartunkova of Czechia bowed to the pair of Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia and Sofia Kenin of the United States in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 1-6, in the 2026 Wimbledon Open at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in England on Friday (Manila time).
Eala and Bartunkova stole the first frame, but the 2020 St. Petersburg Ladies' Trophy champions rallied to win and advance in the next round.
Ostapenko and Kenin were former Grand Slam singles champions, with the Latvian winning the 2017 French Open, while the American emerged victorious in the 2020 Australian Open.
