
RANAU: A 65-year-old local senior citizen climber died while climbing Mount Kinabalu, Sunday afternoon.
Head of Ranau Fire and Rescue Station, Ridwan Mohd Taib, said the victim was found unconscious at Kilometer 5.5 of Mount Kinabalu.
Advertisement"We received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3.11pm and a team of six officers and personnel led by Operation Commander PBB Saudin @ Roland Sopain including the Mountain Search and Rescue Team (MoSAR) as well as mountain rangers and ParkSAR members rushed to the scene of the incident.
"The victim was then brought down using a 'Robinson stretcher' to Timpohon Gate, where the victim was confirmed dead by a medical officer from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM)," he said.

Read more According to Ridwan, the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action, and the operation ended at 8.03pm.
