
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino rising gymnast star Karl Eldrew Yulo entered the floor exercise final at the World Cup Cairo leg in Egypt after placing fifth in the qualifications Saturday in Manila.
The 18-year-old Yulo scored 13.900 points on a 5.400 difficulty and a 8.500 execution to make his fourth final appearance in the seniors level.
The top eight gymnasts made it to the final round.
Yulo has now put himself in position to win his second medal in the seniors level after winning a breakthrough gold in floor exercise at the Antalya leg on March 14.
The younger brother of 2-time Olympic champ Carlos racked up 14.100 points (5.300 difficulty, 8.800 execution) to top the Turkey meet.
Russian Arsenni Dukno topped the floor exercise qualifications in this Cairo leg with 14.533 points followed by Colombian Camilo Vera with 14.133.
