SHAH ALAM - Ticket prices for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit have been published, revealing lower rates for Malaysians than international spectators.
The official Bahrain International Circuit website gave two pricings for the tickets, one for non-Malaysian citizens while the other is for Malaysians.
However, the Formula 1 official website lists the Oct 2 to 4 race at Sepang International Circuit still under a "Join the Waitlist" status, allowing fans to register for notifications when the deposit programme for priority access opens and when official F1 Experiences ticket packages become available.
The ticket purchase button remains inactive.
Ticket pricing published on the Bahrain International Circuit's website shows Malaysian citizens holding a MyKad will be eligible for significantly lower rates than international spectators across all categories.
For Malaysian fans, three-day passes are priced at RM200 for the G Hillstand, RM809.60 for the B and C Hillstands, RM1,291.40 for the F Grandstand, RM1,386 for the K1 Grandstand and RM2,083.40 for the Main Grandstand.
International spectators face a separate pricing structure denominated in US dollars, with the Main Grandstand priced at USD566.05, the F Grandstand at USD376.39, the K1 Grandstand at USD350.13 and the B and C Hillstands at USD218.90.
Based on current exchange rates, the cheapest international ticket would cost about RM895, more than four times the RM200 entry-level ticket available to Malaysian fans.
Grandstand tickets include seated and rooftop viewing access, while the B, C and G Hillstands are open-air viewing areas. All prices are inclusive of tax.
The website said all transactions will be processed in Bahraini dinars at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of transaction.
Children aged between three and six are entitled to a 25 per cent discount, although the concession does not apply to the G Hillstand. Children below the age of three may enter free of charge but will not be allocated a seat.
The race will mark Formula 1's return to Malaysia for the first time since 2017, with Sepang set to host the Bahrain Grand Prix after the event could not be held at its original venue.
Formula 1 president and chief executive Stefano Domenicali said the organisation was delighted to confirm Malaysia as the host venue and that further details on ticket sales would be announced in due course.
Fans interested in attending the race can currently register their details on the official Formula 1 website to receive updates on ticket availability and priority access programmes once sales are launched.
