F1 visitors face checks at five screening points

SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 - Five screening points have been designated to check all vehicles heading to the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026 this Sunday.

The first screening point will cover traffic travelling from the KLIA toll plaza towards Jalan Pekeliling, while another will cater to vehicles travelling from KLIA 1 towards Jalan Pekeliling.

Screening will also be carried out before the Masjid roundabout for vehicles heading towards SIC, as well as along the route from Kota Warisan via Lebohan Dagang towards Jalan KLIA 1.

Another screening point will be set up at the Jalan Kuarters KLIA intersection for vehicles heading towards SIC, at the Enstek traffic lights.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said vehicles would undergo checks for tickets, vehicle passes and access stickers before being allowed to enter SIC.

“To ensure orderly access control, all vehicles heading towards SIC are required to undergo screening at five main locations.

“All vehicles heading to SIC will have their tickets, vehicle passes and access stickers checked before visitors are allowed into the SIC grounds,” he was quoted as saying by Astro Awani.

Shazeli said motorists travelling from north to south could use two alternative routes to avoid congestion - the ELITE-SKVE Highway towards the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban toll plaza, or the ELITE-MEX Highway towards the same toll plaza.

He said the alternative routes could be used for southbound journeys if congestion occurs.

He added that 365 officers and personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) would be deployed for traffic control, patrols, enforcement and VIP escorts throughout the event.
