KINABATANGAN: Five wooden houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Pengkalan, Jalan Bukit Garam on Friday morning.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station Chief PPgB Hairi Otuh said they received an emergency call at 10.11am and arrived at the scene, located about 13km away, at 10.28am.
“No casualties were reported. The fire involved five houses, each measuring about 20x30 feet, and all were destroyed.
“Also lost in the fire were a Proton Wira, Proton Saga, and a Yamaha LC motorcycle, while a Toyota SR and a Perodua Viva sustained about 30 per cent damage,” he said in a statement.
Firefighters used two 500-foot hoses and four jets in the operation, drawing water from the fire engine and a nearby hydrant.
The blaze was brought under control at 10.49am, and the operation ended at 1.40pm. The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
