A fire that started at a plastics factory in Bercham, Ipoh spread to nine lots, injuring a 42-year-old man with burns; 47 firefighters responded.
IPOH: A man suffered burns to his body in a fire that spread to nine factory lots in Persiaran Industri Bercham 10, Bercham here yesterday afternoon.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department asst operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the man, 42, suffered burns to one per cent of his body and received first aid from emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) on the scene after a team of seven fire engines and 40 personnel responded to the fire after a call at 3.36 pm.
“The fire had started at a Class B plastics factory measuring 30 metres (m) by 13 m, which was 50 per cent burned, while other affected factories, Lot 10 and 11 suffered 20 per cent damage, Lots 12, 13 and 14 (70 per cent), Lots 16 and 18 (80 per cent), Lot 15 (10 per cent) and Lot 17 (60 per cent),” he said in a statement yesterday.
The fire was brought under control at 6.25 pm and firefighters were conducting overhaul work, inspections and putting out residual fires to ensure there were no more fire sources, he added.
