
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — A man suffered burns to his body and legs in a fire that destroyed three squatter houses in Jalan Ismail Ghani, Kampung Kasipillay, Sentul, here early this morning.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the emergency call was received at 1.15am before teams from Sentul, Hang Tuah and Gombak Selatan Fire and Rescue Stations rushed to the location.
“Upon arrival of the fire brigade at the location, the fire was found to involve three semi-permanent squatter houses with a total area of 4,872 square feet.
“The houses were 100 per cent destroyed,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Mukhlis said the victim, a 26-year-old local man, was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital and placed in the Red Zone for further treatment.
The fire was successfully brought under control, while the cause of the incident is still under investigation by JBPM Forensic Unit, he said. — Bernama
