
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 - A man suffered burns to his body and legs in a fire that destroyed three squatter houses in Jalan Ismail Ghani, Kampung Kasipillay, Sentul, early this morning.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said an emergency call was received at 1.15 am before teams from the Sentul, Hang Tuah and Gombak Selatan fire and rescue stations were dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the blaze involved three semi-permanent squatter houses covering a total area of 4,872 sq ft.
“The houses were completely destroyed,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Mukhlis said the victim, a 26-year-old local man, was taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital and placed in the Red Zone for further treatment.
He said the fire was brought under control, while the cause of the blaze is being investigated by the Fire and Rescue Department’s Forensic Unit.
