KOTA MARUDU: Five houses and four motorcycles were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Talantang, Jalan Damai, here, early Friday morning.
Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station chief Senior Fire Superintendent Debli Mamoi said 11 firefighters led by Senior Fire Officer II Aloysius Juin Asumo were deployed to the scene with two fire engines after the station received an emergency call through the 999 hotline at 2.19am.
He said the firefighters arrived at the location, about 15km from the station, at 2.43am and immediately began firefighting operations using two 400-foot hose lines, three water jets from the fire engines and water from an open source.
The blaze was brought under control at 3.17am.
Debli said no injuries or fatalities were reported, and the operation ended at 5.33am.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
