ISKANDAR PUTERI – A school operating within the Forest City development in Johor is under investigation by multiple federal agencies following allegations linked to the citizenship status of an individual connected to its operations.
The probe into Network School drew in the Home Ministry, the Immigration Department of Malaysia, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and local authorities, signalling the seriousness with which authorities were treating the matter.
Forest City, the developer behind the sprawling Iskandar Puteri project, said in a statement on Wednesday that it supported the government's position that no party would be allowed to use Johor as a base for any ideology, movement or activity that contravened national laws.
The developer pledged full cooperation with all investigating agencies and said it was committed to submitting all required documents to help facilitate a thorough and accurate fact-finding process.
"Forest City is also committed to submitting all relevant documents required to help facilitate the investigation and accelerate the fact-finding process thoroughly, accurately and effectively," it said.
Forest City stressed its zero-tolerance stance towards any violation of the law, misuse of its premises, non-compliance with immigration regulations or any activity that could compromise public safety and order.
It warned that should authorities find any breach of laws, immigration regulations, licensing conditions, land use terms or agreements, it would exercise its rights under the law and relevant contracts.
"Forest City remains committed to fulfilling its responsibilities, compliance and transparency in accordance with Malaysian law to ensure community safety, protect Johor's interests and uphold national sovereignty," it said.
