A routine co-curricular activity at a secondary school in Malacca turned chaotic on Thursday (9 July) after a male student allegedly chased three of his classmates while holding a knife.

Students allegedly threw ice at the suspect repeatedly.
The situation was brought under control after a teacher managed to calm the student, while a group of prefects surrounded him and successfully confiscated the knife.
Berita Harian reported that, according to a source, the student is believed to have a mental health condition and requires regular medication.
“Fortunately, the teachers, assisted by the prefects, acted quickly to contain the situation and safely disarm the student,” the source said.
No injuries were reported among students or teachers during the incident.
Alor Gajah District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said preliminary investigations found that two students, aged 13 and 14, had allegedly repeatedly thrown ice at the suspect, who is also a 13-year-old student.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect then took out a utility knife from his pencil case before chasing one of the victims for approximately 50 metres to the area near the school’s surau (prayer hall),” Ahmad said, as quoted by Malaysia Gazette.

He added that two other male students who were with the victim also fled the scene, fearing they would become targets. The entire incident was captured by the school’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
This comes just a few days after the Banting school stabbing incident
The incident comes just days after another case of school violence was reported on Monday (6 July), where a Form Three female student at a secondary school in Banting, Selangor, was injured after being stabbed between 14 and 16 times on her body and face in an attack that occurred at around 9 AM.
The case, which went viral on social media, was reportedly linked to the suspect’s claim that they had been subjected to bullying. Following the incident, the teenager was arrested by police and investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder before being charged in court yesterday.
