KUALA LUMPUR - Bera Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob successfully underwent a leadless pacemaker insertion procedure at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on August 7.
IJN stated that the former Prime Minister has been advised to rest following the procedure. Visits are currently restricted to immediate family members to support his recovery process and protect his privacy.
"IJN respectfully requests all parties to respect his and his family's privacy during this period. Any further developments, if appropriate, will be communicated from time to time through official channels," IJN said in a statement on August 7.
Earlier, Ismail Sabri's lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, informed the court that doctors confirmed his client experienced possible arrhythmia requiring further investigation. He made the statement while requesting an adjournment of proceedings at the Sessions Court before Judge Suzana Hussin on August 7.
Amer informed the court that Ismail Sabri was scheduled to undergo the pacemaker insertion at 2:00 pm and was expected to remain in the ward for several days for treatment. He requested that August 27 be fixed as the new date for proceedings regarding an asset declaration case under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.
