Gagasan Rakyat backs Hajiji’s stand on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) has expressed full support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s firm stand in pursuing the state’s 40 per cent net revenue entitlement under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Federal Constitution.

Gagasan Rakyat information chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (pic) said the Chief Minister’s position during the recent MA63 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) meeting reflected the state government’s determination to secure tangible solutions rather than mere discussions.

He said the claim is neither new nor a matter of charity, but a constitutional right that must be resolved equitably and responsibly in line with the true spirit of Malaysia’s formation.

While welcoming the federal government’s decision to raise the interim payment to Sabah to RM1.5 billion starting this year, Nizam stressed that the sum does not replace or conclude the 40 per cent revenue demand.

He added that Gagasan Rakyat also welcomed the agreement in principle to increase parliamentary representation for Sabah and Sarawak, alongside ongoing efforts to expedite Borneonisation in the federal civil service.
