Germany started preparing for their final World Cup group match on Thursday against Ecuador where coach Julian Nagelsmann could be mulling changes while not wanting to stop the team's momentum.
Nagelsmann had all remaining 22 outfield players and the three goalkeepers in training at their North Carolina base camp as the sun returned after morning rain on Tuesday.
Germany have won their first two group matches and are assured of first place in Group E.
That means a quick turnaround as the Ecuador match on Thursday in East Rutherford will be followed on Monday by their last 32 encounter in Foxborough against a yet to be determined third-place finisher.
Nagelsmann will want to keep the momentum going as the wins against Curacao (7-1) and Ivory Coast (2-1) stretched the team's overall winning run to 11.
At the same time he could consider changes to rest some players and give others a chance.
Nagelsmann will have to replace centre back Nico Schlotterbeck who has sustained a tournament-ending ankle injury. Antonio Rüdiger is the likely replacement.
The biggest question is around striker Deniz Undav who came off the bench in both previous games to score three goals, including both against Ivory Coast, and record two assists. Nagelsmann could award him with a place in the starting XI.
Germany last won their three World Cup group games at the 2006 home tournament where they eventually finished third.
There are striking similarities as Germany also had an easy first opponent then in Costa Rica, won the second match in stoppage time against Poland like against Ivory Coast on Saturday and face Ecuador in the group finale, winning 3-0 two decades ago.
