FIFA World Cup 2026 has created an atmosphere for multi-generational fun bridging generation gaps. Having older relatives and young children cheering for the same team builds great memories and turns the world-class matches viewing into a family bond. In Malaysia, we can watch the matches through several official methods, including free public broadcasts and premium streaming networks. The federal government has provided wide access for football fans across the country to catch the action for free. We can watch a majority of the matches live or via delayed telecast on the Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) main channels via MYTV Platform. We can always tune in directly to TV Okey (MYTV Channel 110) and Sukan+ (MYTV Channel 111). Access the games online at no cost using the RTM Klik Website or its mobile application. It allows us to watch live streams & updates on various smart performance. (Free National Broadcasts: RTM & MYTV)

Dr. Zul said, “TGI Fridays United Matchday Platters are perfectly tailored for the World Cup mood with crowd-pleasing portion & easy-to-share finger foods that keep us focused on the game.” Pix: Nadja

A unique option available for this tournament allows us to stream matches directly via public services infrastructure. Registered users can watch RTM's live World Cup broadcasts by logging into MyGOV Malaysia App. The live-streaming feature carries the main digital feeds from TV1, TV2 & TV Okey.

The government's initiative to broadcast the FIFA World Cup via RTM & Unifi TV has been well received, helping to cut cost for restaurant operators and the public. This initiative is really helpful, particularly the food and beverage sector, attract more viewers and customers to their premises. Last Sunday, in conjunction with the Father's Day celebrations, my wife, Zarina & I accepted the invite from our son, Farouq & his best half, Nadja and their son, Daniel to celebrate Father's Day at TGI Fridays in Mid Valley KL. We were amazed watching World Cup matches at the restaurant offers a high-energy, very festive community atmosphere that perfectly balances casual American dining with collective sports fandom. It becomes more animated during big tournaments.
