
BATU PAHAT - A two-year-old girl suffered severe injuries to almost her entire body after being attacked by a pack of suspected stray dogs in the Peserai area here on Saturday.
Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident is believed to have occurred at about 7am while the victim was in front of her family's house.
"Based on initial investigations, the victim is believed to have been attacked by a pack of stray dogs in the area, sustaining injuries to almost her entire body.
"She was then taken by family members to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) Batu Pahat for examination and treatment, before being transferred to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) Johor Bahru for further treatment," he said when contacted on Sunday.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect and Section 289 of the Penal Code for negligence relating to animals.
