The Nuh police have arrested a groom and booked the drivers of four Thar vehicles after a video showing dangerous driving during a wedding procession went viral on social media.

According to the police, Sub-Inspector Yashpal, posted at Nagina police station, was on patrol in Mandikheda village on Sunday when he received a video clip on his mobile phone. On examining the footage, the police found that a wedding procession of Aaqib, a resident of Nai Nangla village, was heading to Chandeni village.

During the procession, some youths were seen standing and sitting on the roofs of moving Thar vehicles, which were allegedly being driven at high speed and in a reckless manner. The registration numbers of the vehicles were also visible in the footage.

“After receiving the information, a police team reached Nai Nangla village, but the procession had already left for Chandeni village. People present at the spot told the police that the groom had said they could travel on the vehicle roofs as marriages do not take place frequently,” police said.

Following a preliminary investigation, an FIR was registered against groom Aaqib and the drivers involved at Nagina police station. Aaqib was later arrested.

The police said similar action had earlier been taken in the Tauru Sadar police station area.
