In a major step towards strengthening Gurugram’s public healthcare infrastructure, the Haryana Government has appointed the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) as the executing agency for the city’s long-awaited new Civil Hospital.

The development, confirmed by the state Health Minister, Arti Singh Rao, clears the way for the construction of a state-of-the-art hospital project worth Rs 1,054 crore near the Police Lines. The government is seeking to expedite the project to address a healthcare gap that has persisted since 2019, when the previous Civil Hospital building was demolished after being declared structurally unsafe.

For several years, residents have faced difficulties due to the absence of a central, full-service government hospital, with repeated delays and administrative hurdles slowing progress on the replacement facility.

The new hospital has been planned in two phases to ensure medical services are expanded as quickly as possible. Under the first phase, a modern 400-bed facility will be constructed to meet immediate healthcare needs. The second phase will add another 200 beds, creating a comprehensive 600-bed healthcare institution for the city and surrounding areas.

Rao said strict directions had been issued to all concerned departments to complete the remaining procedural and administrative formalities on priority so that the project remains on schedule.

The Minister also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini for facilitating the project’s launch, describing it as a significant step towards improving healthcare access for residents.

According to Rao, the facility will provide reliable, accessible and high-quality medical services to lakhs of people in Gurugram and neighbouring regions, many of whom have had to depend on limited local facilities or travel elsewhere for treatment following the closure of the previous Civil Hospital.

By appointing HSIIDC to execute the project, the government aims to overcome the administrative stagnation that has delayed the hospital’s construction for nearly seven years, signalling a renewed push to resolve one of the city’s most persistent public infrastructure concerns.
