
Kota Kinabalu: Han Loong Taekwondo Club finished third overall with 13 gold, 16 silver, 17 bronze medals in their first appearance at the seventh edition of the 2022 Sabah Open and Junior Taekwondo Championships held at Sri Putatan Hall from October 29- October 2.
All the gold medals were delivered by their female poomsae athletes who came top in the event with their dominating display, while their male counterparts finished third.
Team manager Roger Chaw said they also won another 12 silver and 12 bronze medals from poomsae.
“We are very happy to finish third overall. This is a very good achievement, after all, this is our first appearance at this tournament since the club was established in 2020
“Although our kyorugi athletes did not deliver in terms of gold medals, they gave their best and managed to win four silver and five bronze medals as well.
“Hopefully this positive outing will motivate the members of the club even more and we will try to come back stronger in the next tournament,” he said on Tuesday.
He also expressed his gratitude to President of the Sabah United Taekwondo Association (Utsa-WTF), Francis Langkab for letting them take part in the competition.
Meanwhile, MBV Taekwondo Club were the overall champions while the runners-up were Perdana Taekwondo Club.
