Health ministry launches investigation after official website is taken offline following a cyberattack.

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed that its official website was compromised in a cyberattack, prompting the portal to be taken offline while authorities work to restore the system.

In a statement, the ministry said a comprehensive investigation is being carried out to determine how the breach occurred, while technical teams are working to recover the website as soon as possible.

“The ministry views this incident seriously and is working closely with the relevant agencies to strengthen system security and prevent similar incidents from happening again,” it said.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the ministry advised the public not to access its website and cautioned users against clicking on suspicious links or downloading files associated with the compromised portal.

It also urged the public to obtain health-related updates only through the ministry’s verified social media accounts and other official communication channels while the website remains unavailable.

“The ministry apologises for any inconvenience caused and will continue to provide updates as restoration efforts progress,” it added.

During the disruption, a message believed to have been left by the attackers reportedly appeared in a search engine preview of the website, along with a reference to a known hacking group.

The ministry has not disclosed the extent of the cyber intrusion or whether any data was compromised.

It stressed that protecting data security and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of public services remain its highest priorities as recovery efforts continue.
