Kota Kinabalu: The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah Branch and its Young Engineers Section (IEMS-YES) are seeking to strengthen cooperation with the Sabah Sewerage Services Department (JPPS), particularly in professional development and infrastructure engineering.
The matter was discussed during a courtesy call by an IEM Sabah delegation, led by Branch Chairman Ir. Ts. Tan KJ, JP, on JPPS director Ir. Ts. Hj. Mohd Nadzree Imran on Sept 28.
Discussions covered opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), technical training, mentoring, knowledge sharing and pathways towards Professional Engineer (Ir.) registration.
They also exchanged views on future engineering needs, including sustainability, digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in sewerage and infrastructure development.
IEM Sabah said greater attention would also be given to young and graduate engineers through technical exposure, competency development and opportunities to learn from experienced professionals.
Tan said stronger collaboration between government agencies and professional institutions could help develop engineering talent, encourage innovation, and support more sustainable and resilient infrastructure development in Sabah.
IEM Sabah said it looked forward to further engagement with JPPS through technical programmes, seminars, workshops, professional development activities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
