PETALING JAYA: Jati Tinggi Group Bhd is expanding into battery energy storage systems (BESS) after securing a RM2.895 million contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) for a community energy storage system (CESS) project.
The group said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jati Tinggi Holding Sdn Bhd, together with Reactive Energy Sdn Bhd through an unincorporated joint venture, received the letter of acceptance from TNB on Nov 3.
The contract involves the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 150kW/430kWh CESS for TNB’s Pulau Tenaga Hijau project, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The system comprises battery storage, power conversion, energy management and associated control systems, designed to store excess solar energy for subsequent use by the electricity network.
It will also support renewable energy integration and off-grid and microgrid applications.
Under the joint venture arrangement, Jati Tinggi Holding will hold a 55% participation, while Reactive Energy will hold the remaining 45%.
The contract will be completed within 18 months from the commencement date, which will be determined later.
Jati Tinggi said the contract marks a strategic milestone in its expansion into energy storage solutions, strengthening its position to pursue further opportunities in renewable energy integration, grid reliability and smart grid development.
