
TAMBUNAN: Deputy Chief Minister 1, Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan fully supports the efforts of the District Education Office (PPD) to host the Sabah School Sports Council (MSSS) in this district next year.
He said 2025 is Visit Tambunan Year in addition to being the first district to launch the Kaamatan Festival at the Sabah Region level.
“Furthermore, hosting MSSS in this district will definitely boost the economic development of the people in this district,” he said after officiating the 5 in 1 ceremony in conjunction with the District Education Office Open Day at the Pisompuruan Square open hall here.
Jeffrey, who is also Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, said the organisation of this MSSS is based on the success of this district in the field of co-curriculum especially sports.

Read more Based on the record, he said the Tambunan District Education Office successfully competed at the state level by getting 10 gold, three silver and five bronze medals in the 54th Sabah School Sports Council (MSSS) tournament in Sandakan and finished third out of 24 PPDs behind Tawau and Ranau.
“I support the efforts of this PPD can contribute to the economic growth of the people of this district,” he said.
Earlier in his speech, Jeffrey who is also Tambunan Assemblyman, congratulated the officers and teachers who received achievement awards for dedication and high commitment in carrying out their responsibilities.
He said the educators who received the excellent school management award proved that their efforts and hard work are not in vain.
“Hopefully, this award will be a catalyst for all recipients to continue to give their best in the public service, especially in education.
“We are all responsible for producing an excellent and competitive generation,” he said.
The Keningau Member of Parliament is also proud of Tambunan PPD’s glorious achievements in the academic field such as being ranked seventh in the SPM 2023 out of 24 PPDs throughout Sabah and surpassed Sabah’s achievements in District Average Grade (GPD) and Eligible for a Certificate (LMS).
In addition, he said, in SPM achievement, PPD Tambunan also emerged tops in the Interior Zone over PPD Tenom, Keningau and Pensiangan in GPD and LMS.
Jeffrey said this success is very great and sweet, not to mention PPD Tambunan is located in a small district with 7,074 primary and secondary school students.However in the field of Co-Curriculum and student affairs (HEM), PPD Tambunan is no less great with achievements at the Sabah, National and international levels.
A total of 159 educators received Awards in the 5 in 1 and out the total 34 educators received the Management Award (Mapens), 23 received the Academic Excellence Award (MEKAR), 74 received the Outstanding Service Award (APC) 2023 and 28 received the Jasamu Dikenang Award.
Also present were District Officer Sobitun Makajil, District Education Officer Haison Jahuddin, Tambunan PPD Deputy Officiers, Keningau PPD representatives, principals, headmasters, community leaders and teachers.
