KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — Sunway Group founder Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah has reportedly confirmed a roller coaster accident that injured 10 people occurred at Sunway Lagoon on Saturday.

The New Straits Times reported Cheah as saying authorities were investigating the incident, while he believed metal fatigue may have been a possible cause.

“It’s an incident that all of us regret very much. We are lucky that there were no fatalities,” Cheah was quoted as saying.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat previously said 22 people, comprising Malaysians and foreign tourists aged between 11 and 44, were on the ride when the incident occurred at about 9pm on Saturday.

He said those injured were taken to medical centres in the Subang Jaya district for treatment, with all reported to have sustained minor injuries.

Police said a report was lodged at 11.45am the following day and investigations are ongoing.
