Theme park visitors at Genting Highlands were evacuated on foot along a roller coaster track after the ride reportedly came to a stop mid-operation.
PETALING JAYA: A group of visitors at a theme park in Genting Highlands were reportedly evacuated on foot after a roller coaster stopped while in operation.
A video circulating on social media showed several visitors walking along the roller coaster track before leaving the ride area.
The footage was shared on Threads by a user who questioned the circumstances that led to the passengers being asked to leave the ride.
“The Subang Jaya theme park issue hasn’t even been settled yet, and now at Genting people have to get off a roller coaster and walk out? What’s going on? Hope no one was injured. It’s starting to look like jungle trekking, huh?” the user wrote.
The post prompted discussion among other social media users, with some suggesting that the visitors may have been evacuated through a designated walkway after the ride encountered a technical issue.
One user, said passengers could be required to leave a roller coaster on foot if a ride became stuck and was unable to return to its station.
“Maybe the roller coaster got stuck because of a technical problem and could not return to its original position. There is a route to get the visitors out,” she said.
Another user, who claimed to have previously worked at a theme park, said safety procedures were generally prioritised and that similar incidents during their time there had not resulted in injuries.
The exact time and circumstances of the incident remain unclear.
There has also been no official confirmation on whether the roller coaster experienced a technical malfunction or whether any visitors were injured.
