
KENINGAU: Defending champions Keningau beat Kota Kinabalu in the final of the Sabah School Sports Council (MSSS) Rugby Championship Under-12 male category held at Tanjung Aru Rugby Field in Kota Kinabalu.
Keningau won 34-22 to emerge the champions while Sandakan won third place.
The Technical Manager of PT Rugby Keningau, Ruddy Daupin said that this victory was the result of the commitment and training of all the students and teachers involved, especially the Keningau Education Office.
“Thanks for working hard to achieve this success and continue to defend the championship even though the competition from other teams is quite strong,” he said when contacted.

Read more Meanwhile the manager of the Keningau Rugby team, Rozy Madis said the victory shows the determination of the students to achieve success and it is hoped that this victory can be defended again in the future.
“Difficulties do exist in the process of defending a position and at the same time shaping the character and development of our students in a period of two weeks,” she said.
Rozy also expressed her appreciation to the parents who always supported and motivated their children who were involved throughout the two-week training up to the tournament stage.
Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu emerged as the champions in the Under-18 male category.
Penampang and Keningau finished in second and third place respectively.
A total of 16 teams from all over Sabah participated in the two-day tournament.
