MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Kiyapo (International name: Noul) maintained its strength as it moved toward China while enhancing the southwest monsoon that is affecting the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its 11 a.m. storm bulletin, the center of "Kiyapo" was last seen 465 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes. packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and carries gustiness of up to 150 kph.
Kiyapo continues to move farther from the Philippine Area of Responsibility, is expected to be 610 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes by Saturday evening and by Sunday morning, will be within the vicinity of Guangdong, China.
No tropical storm signals have been raised across the country.
Meanwhile, the provinces of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro should expect light to moderate rainfall due to the southwest monsoon.
