Kota Kinabalu: Unity, professionalism and teamwork are essential for the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD) to continue delivering effective policing under its new leadership, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the rank insignia presentation and handover ceremony for the new Officer-in-Charge of Police District (OCPD), ACP Shahrudin Mat Husain, Jauteh said all officers and personnel should give their full cooperation to the new district police chief.
He described Kota Kinabalu as one of Sabah's most demanding police districts, with more than 1,100 officers and personnel, the State's largest police lock-up, and responsibilities as the State administrative centre, main gateway to Sabah and host of major government and international events.
Jauteh reminded personnel not to compare Shahrudin with previous district police chiefs or take advantage of the leadership transition, stressing that strengthening existing systems through continuous improvement was more effective than introducing drastic changes.
He also called on officers to make better use of modern technology to speed up investigations, while encouraging those seeking promotion to continue improving their knowledge, skills and work performance.
