Kota Kinabalu: Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah denied claims circulating on TikTok that he appointed Sharinaz Sabin as chief executive officer (CEO) of Kinabalu Venture, which was alleged to be a subsidiary of City Hall (DBKK) involved in a “Jual Kereta Rakyat” initiative.
Sabin said he had never appointed Sharinaz as CEO of Kinabalu Venture, which was also not a DBKK subsidiary.
He said the claims linking him to the alleged appointment and the company’s status with DBKK were false and defamatory.
The dissemination of the claims constituted an attack on the Mayor’s reputation and integrity, and could mislead the public and undermine confidence in DBKK’s administration, he said in a statement.
A police report has been lodged over the matter for investigation and further action by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
DBKK takes seriously the dissemination of false and defamatory information involving the Mayor, his family members and DBKK, and will take firm legal action against the owners or operators of the accounts responsible once their identities and involvement have been established.
The public has been advised to verify any information concerning official DBKK affairs through its official communication channels before accepting or sharing it.
DBKK remains committed to the principles of integrity, transparency and accountability in its administration and delivery of services to the community.
