
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) has established Kota Kinabalu’s first water village community team.
Forty fire marshals from four villages, namely Tanjung Aru, Numbak, Meruntum and Pulau Gaya, were commissioned at a ceremony in Tanjung Aru, Thursday.
State Secretary Datuk Seri Sr. Safar Untong, in his speech, said water village fires pose the biggest challenge for Sabah’s FRD.
“Statistics shows 908 water village homes were destroyed by fire in 2022 compared to only 250 in 2021.
