MANILA, Philippines — The De La Salle Lady Spikers completed a first round sweep after denying the NU Lady Bulldogs, 25-21, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Sunday.
Going 7-0 in the tourney, the league-leading La Salle also ended its 5-game skid against dating back to the second round of Season 86.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 5-2 for second place.
Shevana Laput unleashed 18 points for the Lady Spikers, who got their bearings back after the Lady Bulldogs came back from a 3-15 deficit and pulling within two, 15-17, in the fourth set.
Amie Provido delivered key hits in La Salle's finishing kick as she finished with 12 points.
Sam Cantanda paced NU with 13 points and 14 receptions.
