KOTA KINABALU: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has lauded the Sabah Law Society (SLS) for its historic legal victory affirming Sabah’s constitutional right to 40 pc of its net revenue entitlement.

LDP President Datuk Chin Su Phin said the High Court’s decision corrects decades of injustice and reaffirms Sabah’s constitutional rights that have been neglected since 1974.

He described the ruling as a “triumph for justice and the people of Sabah,” praising SLS for its professionalism, perseverance, and moral courage in pursuing the case.

Chin urged the Federal Government to respect the ruling and refrain from appealing, warning that any move to challenge it would undermine public trust and the constitutional spirit.

He said further litigation would only erode confidence in the Federal Government’s sincerity and damage federal-state relations.

He also called for immediate and transparent discussions between the Federal and Sabah governments to review and recalculate Sabah’s financial entitlements in line with the Constitution and the court’s decision.

Chin affirmed that LDP will continue supporting efforts to uphold Sabah’s constitutional and economic rights, stressing that genuine cooperation and not prolonged disputes is key to national unity and prosperity.
