Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) welcomed the landmark decision of the KK High Court which reaffirmed Sabah’s constitutional right to 40 per cent of the net revenue derived from the State, as guaranteed under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
PBRS Deputy President and Secretary-General Datuk Richard Kastum said the judgment marked a long-overdue recognition of Sabah’s constitutional and historical rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), while upholding the principles of fairness, justice and federal integrity that underpin the Malaysian Federation.
The party stressed that the 180-day review period granted by the Court must be used effectively and in good faith to engage in constructive negotiations towards a fair and lasting settlement on the 40 per cent revenue entitlement.
PBRS also called for the establishment of a Joint Federal–State Task Force, led by the Ministry of Finance, to review the revenue-sharing formula and ensure the High Court’s decision is implemented in an orderly, transparent and professional manner.
“This is not about partisan politics, but about justice, equality and the dignity of Sabah. Whoever forms the next government after 17th GE must respect and adhere to this High Court decision, which affirms the legitimate constitutional rights of Sabahans under MA63,” he said.
Richard reiterated PBRS’s steadfast support for the Unity Government (PH–BN) and pledged to continue championing the full and faithful implementation of MA63, not as a political slogan, but as a genuine commitment to fairness and national unity within the Federation.
