KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Lee Chean Chung had long distanced himself from PKR affairs, including by not attending party meetings or the party congress.
Anwar said Lee’s decision to leave the party should therefore not be an issue and that he should be allowed to depart amicably.
“He has been away for a long time. He has never attended party meetings, and he did not attend the congress either.
“So, it is appropriate. If he is no longer interested, there is no problem. Leave on good terms, and thank you for your contributions all this while,” he told reporters after visiting the TUDM Sungai Besi quarters here today.
Anwar was commenting on Lee’s decision to resign as the Petaling Jaya MP with immediate effect.
Lee announced his resignation today following his three-year suspension from PKR.
