
TAWAU: A 31-year-old pregnant woman was treated in Tawau Hospital after the car she was travelling in with her husband was struck by a falling log at Sungai Udin, Jalan Merotai-Kalabakan, around 4.30pm, on Wednesday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the victim’s 35-year-old husband, who was driving the Toyota Hilux, was unhurt.
AdvertisementHe said the incident occurred when a Nissan truck carrying a load of logs was travelling from Kalabakan Merotai to Log-Pond.
“As the truck reached the scene, one of the logs suddenly fell from its load and struck the front of the Hilux. “As a result, the vehicle sustained severe damage. The truck driver was not injured,” he said, Thursday.

Read more At the time of the incident, the victim and her husband were en route to Luasong from Tawau town. The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 for reckless driving leading to an accident.
