
As directed by the Haryana State Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Gurugram held a special State Lok Adalat on Saturday to resolve cheque bounce cases.
During the session, 2,497 cheque bounce cases were settled. The event was organised under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Narendra Sura, and under the direction of Nisha, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and Chief Judicial Magistrate.
According to an official statement, the Special State Lok Adalat heard cases pending under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. A total of 2,573 cheque bounce cases were placed before the Lok Adalat, out of which 2,497 cases were successfully settled with the mutual consent of the parties.
The total amount settled in the cases was Rs 40.31 crore. The Lok Adalat provided an effective forum for the amicable and speedy resolution of cheque bounce cases, providing parties with quick, simple, and affordable justice, said an official.
