MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo de Manila University appointed Louie Alas as its men's basketball team interim coach following former head coach Tab Baldwin's resignation, as reported by the school's student publication The Guidon on Friday.
A 3-time NCAA champion with Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Alas served as one of Baldwin's assistant coaches since 2024.
Alas brought in his former Letran player and ex-PBA cager RJ Jazul as one of his assistants while looking to add another ex-Letran cager and PBA veteran Kerby Raymundo to his staff.
Meanwhile, former Ateneo Blue Eagle and PBA player Nico Salva was named interim team manager, taking over Epok Quimpo's vacated post.
Baldwin and Quimpo resigned following the deaths of players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili during Ateneo's team-building activity in the sea waters of Dipaculao, Aurora last month.
