
Ludhiana ended Tuesday within touching distance of an emphatic win after a commanding performance against Barnala in Punjab Inter-District U-19 Cricket Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy.
The last league match of Group D is being played at Trident cricket ground in Barnala.
In reply to Ludhiana’s 245, Barnala were reeling at 58 for 6. At stumps, Barnala still needed 188 runs to avoid the follow-on.
After early setbacks, Ludhiana posted 245 runs in 73.3 overs on the back of a splendid 73 by Jasdeep Singh and a patient 59 by Ravtej Singh. The duo stitched together a crucial partnership to rescue Ludhiana from 28 for 2. Hemant Verma frustrated Barnala bowlers with a composed 54.
Barnala’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Sanyam Khurana (3/81) and Dravin Chanana (3/34).
Ludhiana bowlers ripped through the Barnala batting lineup with accuracy and discipline. Vansh Rana once again proved his class, claiming three wickets for 26 runs. Parveen Giri provided excellent support, returning figures of 2 for 19. Barnala batters found scoring difficult, with only Sahilpreet Singh (13) and Deiwik Gocher (11) offering some resistance.
