A woman has appealed to members of the public who witnessed the accident or have dashcam footage of the crash involving her family of five at KM 440.5 southbound from Sungai Buaya to Rawang to come forward and help with the police report.

Nurul Faiqah Abd Rahman recalled the accident took place on 6 September at around 4:00 AM to 4:30 AM when their vehicle reportedly were hit from behind by a Toyota Camry, while the family was travelling from Perlis to Cheras.

Two Camry passengers allegedly fled scene after accident

According to Kosmo!, Assistant Director of Operations at the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Asrul Riezal Asbar, said the Toyota Camry was believed to have been carrying three people, two of whom allegedly fled the scene after the crash.

The accident left Nurul Faiqah’s husband, former journalist Tengku Muhammad Shah Asyraf Tengku Sallehuddin, with a serious neck fracture, while their second child suffered fractures to the arm and leg.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old local man driving the Toyota Camry also sustained serious injuries.

 

Details of the crash

According to Nurul Faiqah, her husband was driving their vehicle when the accident happened. The family was travelling from Perlis to Cheras and was only about 45 minutes away from reaching home when their vehicle was hit from behind.

“We were in the middle lane when another vehicle hit us from behind. My husband suffered a neck fracture, while our second child fractured their arm and leg and needed to undergo surgery,” she said, as quoted by Utusan Malaysia.

Nurul Faiqah said she is however, unsure whether the other driver involved had lodged a police report.

Meanwhile, Gombak District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ibrahim Hussin said police had received a report regarding the incident.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
