The much-awaited Malan flyover on the Pathankot–Mandi National Highway near Nagrota Bagwan in Kangra district has entered its final phase with the completion of its last set of pillars, marking a major milestone in the ambitious four-lane highway project linking Pathankot to Leh through Himachal Pradesh.
The completion of the final pillars concludes one of the most critical stages of construction and paves the way for accelerated work on the flyover’s superstructure. Officials associated with the project said construction activity is expected to gather pace in the coming months, bringing the flyover significantly closer to completion.
The Pathankot–Mandi four-lane highway is among the most significant infrastructure projects currently underway in Himachal Pradesh. It is designed to improve road connectivity, reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion and enhance road safety for commuters and tourists travelling through the region.
Once completed, the Malan flyover is expected to streamline traffic movement in the Nagrota Bagwan area, a busy stretch that frequently experiences congestion due to rising vehicular traffic. The project is also expected to provide a smoother and safer travel experience for residents, commercial vehicle operators and tourists visiting Kangra district.
Local residents and traders have welcomed the progress, expressing optimism that the upgraded highway infrastructure will boost economic activity, facilitate faster movement of goods and strengthen connectivity between major towns in Kangra and other parts of the state.
Col Ajay Singh (retd), Regional Head of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Shimla, said the completion of the final pillars reflects the steady progress being made under the Pathankot–Mandi four-lane project. He described the highway as a key component of the region’s infrastructure development and economic growth strategy.
He added that, given the current pace of construction, the NHAI remains optimistic about completing the project within the targeted timeframe, ensuring long-term benefits for residents, businesses and travellers across Himachal Pradesh.
