
LAHAD DATU: Police arrested a local and seized 2kg of drugs believed to be syabu during an operation at the parking lot of a shopping mall in Lahad Datu town, here, Tuesday.
District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the 41-year-old suspect was detained during Op Tapis by the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division of the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters.
He said police also seized an iPhone 14 smartphone and two vehicles, a Proton X50 and Perodua Axia, believed to have been used in drug trafficking activities.
“The suspect was detained for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Investigation is ongoing to identify the source of supply, modus operandi and the syndicate’s network,” he said.
Dzulbaharin said the suspect tested negative for drug abuse.
The drugs seized were estimated to be worth RM94,000.
He stressed that the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters would remain firm in combating drug trafficking activities in the district.
