Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with threatening to injure a policeman with a sword.

George Amatus, 30, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to criminally intimidating Raimon Bakar with the weapon at 12.05am on Nov 18 in a unit at PPR Sri Serigai, Putatan.

The charge is framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.

The court set Jan 11 next year for pre-trial case management (PTCM).

George was offered bail at RM2,000 in two sureties pending the date.

In the same court, a 30-year-old man was charged with similar offence against his younger sister and mother.

Unemployed Azmil Eppak claimed trial to committing the offence to Nor Sirah Eppak, 20, and Nelinda Ladjarahman at 10.30pm on Nov 17 in a house at Kg Numbak, Manggatal.

The court set Jan 9 next year for Azmil’s PTCM and released the accused on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man claimed trial to a charge of cheating a man of RM40,000.

Abd Rudi Jenain allegedly cheated Azmain Maidin by offering him a project to build a mosque in Pitas, causing the latter to give him RM40,000 at noon on May 9, this year at Grace Point, Jalan Sembulan and on June 6 in a restaurant at Pitas.

The charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between one year and 10 years and with whipping and liability to a fine, on conviction.

Rudi was offered bail at RM2,500 in two sureties pending mention of his case on Jan 9, next year.

In the same court, two men were separately charged with shoplifting.

Wireman Sharul Nizam, 36, and unemployed Md Noorshah Mohzanie, 29, claimed trial to committing the offence at 1.10pm on Nov 19 at D’Bundle Mania, ITCC Penampang.

Sharul was accused of stealing five garments and a bag while Noorshah allegedly stole four garments and a back pack from the premises.

They were each charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and liability of a fine, on conviction.

The court set Jan 11 and Jan 29 for mention of Sharul’s and Noorshah’s case respectively.

The accused were each offered bail at RM2,000 in two sureties pending the dates. Inspector Suzie S.K. prosecuted.
