SEREMBAN, Oct 30 — A 74-year-old man was killed after the Perodua Myvi he was driving was swept away by floodwaters while travelling along a road near a drain beside Sungai Kampung Kundur Hulu here in Rembau last night.

Rembau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) senior operations commander Mohamad Khairul Yahaya said it received an emergency call from the victim’s son at 9.20pm.

“The rescue team, with assistance from the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) from the Teluk Kemang BBP, managed to extricate the victim, who was trapped inside the car, about half an hour later.

“The victim, a retired civil servant, was confirmed dead by Ministry of Health medical officers and his remains were taken to Rembau Hospital,” he told Bernama.
